Two songs from a 45 vinyl release by a band Sky High working out of Chattanooga TN circa 1980.

Possibly other bands at other times and places used the same name. I do not know. These two songs are from the Sky High outfit which worked under that name at Chattanooga nightclubs and various road gigs circa 1980. No infringement is intended if other bands at other times and places happened to use the same name.

Side A "If Ever Comes the Day" song writing Copyright 1978 David A Gray

Recorded at Pyramid Studios, Lookout Mountain TN. Engineered by Lee Peterzell. The label on the record lists production by Jim Stabile, Lee Peterzell and Sky High Band.

I digital dubbed from an old "virgin" 45, fetched from the attic, which had never been played. Managed to remove most clicks and then remastered the tunes. Like many low budget records of the time, the closest it got to mastering was bus compression (likely LA2A) into the 2 track tape, plus whatever the vinyl engineer had to do in order to prevent the needle from jumping out of the grooves.

Most 45's were intentionally cut "a little too hot" trading extra loudness for extra distortion. Some dense sections of the songs show some of that typical 45 record overdrive distortion. Overall it turned out cleaner than I might have feared. A better remaster might be made from the original master tapes. If the master mix tape could be found and if the tape would be playable after 37 years. Perhaps not likely on either count.
